Dr Isabel de Bruin Cardoso

Dr. Isabel de Bruin Cardoso is a lecturer at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, the Netherlands.

Her PhD focused on the NGO halo effect – she finds that a glorified perception of moral goodness in NGOs is associated with their unethical behavior. Isabel lectures in NGO ethics, nonprofit management, and business ethics.

She is also a visiting lecturer at the IADC’s Licentiate Program at the Pontifical Gregorian University.

Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, research reports, and policy briefs. Beyond academia, her research has been used to inform policies and programs for religious congregations, philanthropic foundations, civil society organizations, the UN, World Bank, and governments.

Outside of academia, Isabel consults on ethics management and safeguarding in mission driven organizations.

Isabel is an Advisory Board Member of the Society of Jesus’ Protection of a Consistent Culture of Protection Program.

She is based in Athens, Greece.
